How can i get the guitar for guitar hero 3 ps2 to work?

I just got guitar hero 3 for the ps2 and i put the game in and it worked fine until it got to the screen saying press the green button to continue. I did that of course but it wasn’t working. i tried pressing all the buttons on the guitar and the button on the wireless adaptor in the ps2 but nothing seems to work=/. Any help would be much appreciated thankss x

Make sure the batteries are good and turn on the guitar. (you’ll see a red light on the end of the guitar that “talks” to the wireless that is supposed to be inserted in the connection slot for player #1.
